The first type of smartphone: IBM Simon

The first smartphone was called Simon; it was designed by IBM in 1992 and shown as a concept product that year at COMDEX, the computer industry trade show held in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was released to the public in 1993 and sold by BellSouth. Besides being a mobile phone, it also contained a calendar, address book, world clock, calculator, note pad, e-mail, send and receive fax, and games. It had no physical buttons to dial with. Instead customers used a touch-screen to select phone numbers with a finger or create facsimiles and memos with an optional stylus. Text was entered with a unique on-screen "predictive" keyboard. By today's standards, the Simon would be a fairly low-end product; however, its feature set at the time was incredibly advanced.

If we say what the most interesting functions adding phone, it is undoubtedly the camera function. The first commercial camera phone complete with infrastructure was the J-SH04, made by Sharp Corporation, had an integrated CCD sensor, with the Sha-Mail infrastructure developed in collaboration with Kahn's LightSurf venture, and marketed from 2001 by J-Phone in Japan today owned by Softbank. It was only available in Japan, and was released in November 2000. It was the world’s first ever phone with a inbuilt camera (110,000 pixel CMOS) and colour display (256-colour display). It measures 127 x 39 x 17 mm and weighs just about 74g including the battery. It was also one of the first phones in the world to be ‘modern’ alike. It was succeeded by the J-SH05 flip phone, which was released just one month after.

Now mobile phone are all color screen long ago, and have been developed to the point where 16 million colors. There may have some reasons lead to be massive changes. History of Mobile Phone: Generation


Analog cellular telephony (1G)
The first commercial fully automated cellular network (the 1G generation) was launched in Japan by NTT in 1979. The initial launch network covered the full metropolitan area of Tokyo's over 20 million inhabitants with a cellular network of 23 base stations.
The second launch of 1G networks was the simultaneous launch of the Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT) system in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in 1981.
NMT was the first mobile phone network featuring international roaming. The Swedish electrical engineer Östen Mäkitalo started to work on this vision in 1966, and is considered as the father of the NMT system and some consider him also the father of the cellular phone.
The first NMT installations as well as the First AMPS installations were based on the Ericsson AXE digital exchange nodes.

Digital mobile communication (2G)
The first "modern" network technology on digital 2G (second generation) cellular technology was launched by Radiolinja in 1991 in Finland on the GSM standard which also marked the introduction of competition in mobile telecoms when Radiolinja challenged incumbent Telecom Finland who ran a 1G NMT network. The first data services appeared on mobile phones starting with person-to-person SMS text messaging in Finland in 1993. It has a stable call quality and the right of standby time.

Wideband mobile communication (3G)
In 2001 the first commercial launch of 3G (Third Generation) was again in Japan by NTT DoCoMo on the WCDMA standard. The standard 2G CDMA networks became 3G compliant with the adoption of Revision A to EV-DO. Revision A of EV-DO makes several additions to the protocol while keeping it completely backwards compatible with older versions of EV-DO. The beginning of the third-generation mobile phone one of the goals is to develop a universal can ba a wireless communication system.

History of mobile phone

In 1973, Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive is considered to be the inventor of the first practical mobile phone for hand-held use in a non-vehicle setting. In 1984, Bell Labs developed modern commercial cellular technology, these looked more like a shoulder bag- consisting of a box with a phone, antenna and power pack- weighed around 5kg. From that time, the mobile phone stepped up into world history's stage and entered the human life. With the rapid advance of science and technology, many people all had the phone, the phone use more and more are also common, and hunderds of phones pushed into the market.
